Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-08-22
This policy explains what data CompanionRank ("we", "us") collects when you visit companionrank.tech, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We are the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. What we collect
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site.
- Analytics data. Pages viewed, approximate country, device type, browser, referring site and time on page. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
- Technical data. Your IP address is processed transiently by our hosting provider to deliver the page and to protect against abuse. We do not store it ourselves.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us, we keep your email address and the content of your message so we can reply.
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not collect payment information, and we never ask for financial details. Any subscription you buy is transacted entirely on the third-party platform's own site, not here.
2. Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies keep the site working. Analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful. Where you click through to a platform we review, that platform may set its own affiliate tracking cookie, typically lasting up to 30 days, so it can attribute the referral to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop the site working.
3. Why we process your data, and our lawful basis
- To operate and secure the site — legitimate interests.
- To measure how the site is used and improve it — consent, where required, otherwise legitimate interests.
- To reply to your enquiry — legitimate interests.
- To attribute affiliate referrals — legitimate interests, and consent for non-essential cookies where the law requires it.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we never will. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the site:
- Our hosting provider, which serves the pages and holds transient server logs.
- Our analytics provider, which produces aggregate traffic statistics.
- Affiliate networks, which receive a referral identifier when you click a tracked link. They do not receive your name or email from us.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers operate outside the UK. Where data is transferred abroad it is protected by an adequacy decision or by standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Aggregate analytics are kept for up to 26 months. Emails you send us are kept for up to 24 months after the conversation ends. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then discarded.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data erased.
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these, email us via our contact page. We respond within one month.
8. Children
This site covers adult products and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top always shows the current version.
