NSFW AI Chat: How Filtering and Moderation Actually Work
What uncensored really means, and where every platform still draws a line.
In this guide
Uncensored is a spectrum, not a switch
Platforms advertising unfiltered chat are describing the absence of a consumer-facing content filter, not the absence of moderation. Every legitimate operator runs hard blocks that cannot be prompted around.
The lines nobody crosses
Any content involving minors is blocked absolutely, at the model, the prompt and the output layer, and reported. Real-person likenesses and non-consensual scenarios involving identifiable people are also blocked. These are legal requirements, not preferences.
Moderation still applies
Most terms reserve the right to review flagged conversations and terminate accounts. Some platforms freeze chats pending review rather than deleting them outright.
Age verification is becoming mandatory
Regulation in the UK and several US states now requires meaningful age assurance for adult content. Platforms handling this properly ask for verification at signup. Ones that do not are carrying regulatory risk you inherit as a customer.
